How We Verify Product Claims

Paws & Pockets is an independent online retailer of dog treats, chews, food toppers, treat-dispensing toys and supplements. This page explains how we write about the products we sell, so you can see what each statement on our site is based on.

We are a retailer, not a veterinarian

Nobody at Paws & Pockets is a veterinarian, and nothing on this site is veterinary advice. Check with your vet about your dog's diet, treat amounts, supplements and any health concern. If you think your dog is in distress, contact your vet or an emergency clinic.

How we write product pages

  • Manufacturer claims are attributed. When a benefit comes from the maker, we say so, with wording such as "per K9 Power" or "West Paw says." We do not state manufacturer claims as our own findings.
  • Ingredient wording follows the label. We call a product "single-ingredient" or "one ingredient" only where the ingredient list reads a single item, such as 100% chicken breast.
  • Facts come from the manufacturer. Ingredients, guaranteed analysis, calories per treat, sizes and country of manufacture come from the manufacturer's product information or package.
  • We leave out what we cannot confirm. If we cannot confirm a detail, such as whether a bag is resealable, we do not include it.
  • We avoid health promises. We do not claim that a treat or supplement treats, prevents or cures any condition.

How we write guides and articles

  • Articles are published under the Paws & Pockets name.
  • Statements about training, hydration, nutrition or safety are tied to a named source, which we list at the end of the article.
  • Product details in articles come from the same manufacturer information used on the product pages.

Reviews

We only display reviews written by customers who bought from us. We do not write, buy or edit reviews.

Corrections

Manufacturers update their products and packaging. If you see something on our site that does not match the package you received, email info@pawsandpockets.store and we will check it and correct it.
